New Zealand Māori Council | Te Kaunihera Māori o Aoteaora

The New Zealand Māori Council is a body for the representation of and consultation with the Māori people of New Zealand. The council is one of the oldest of all Māori representative groups. In recent times the council has increased its focus on social challenges and issues that impact Māori and, as a result, its work programs have changed to developing ideas and innovative ways of reducing barriers that might be in the way of its people progressing forward. The New Zealand Māori Council advocates Māori policy development and supports community initiatives that contribute to te mana motuhake o te iwi Māori. The New Zealand Māori Council leads and is involved with a number of Waitangi Tribunal Inquiries and at the forefront of policy development in advocating for Māori interests.
